Clergy Spouses,
The lazy days of summer are slipping away, and the hustle of fall is quickly approaching. In your planning, do you feel your heart rate start to increase from excitement…or maybe from stress? Before your calendar fills up this fall, I urge you to set aside one weekend to escape from your schedule. Set aside one weekend to join with your brothers and sisters in Christ to “stand firm and…see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today” (Exodus 14:13.)
Please join us at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center on October 15 & 16 for this year’s Clergy Spouses’ Retreat, “Stand Firm.” You can find more information and a registration form in your Fall Texas Conference Clergy Spouses Association newsletter.

 July 28, 2010

Dear Clergy, Lay Leaders and Church Delegates:
“How does vision move from being content to lifestyle?”   On August 28th we will begin a multi-year discussion with ya’ll about your church finding its way to where God is calling ya’ll to be better than the 10,000 other churches around you. This is not the next best idea or book to make you jump through new hoops just because we say it.
Our District Summer Training Event and District Conference will be August 28th 9 am – 11 am at Pasadena First United Methodist Church. Registration and coffee will be at 8:30 am and we will begin our District Conference promptly at 9 am. The first 30 minutes will be about Charge Conference and the District Conference. The second part of our time will be a training session and introduction into our multi-year approach.
There will always be Conference programs and Conference emphasizes that will help make us better at what we do in our churches. Our District training event and Charge Conference intent is to give you tools and ask questions in such a way so that you become that unique group of people called to the unique aspects of ministry in your unique setting.
At our District Conference, we will vote on our District Budget, Apportionments and Askings for 2011, and elect our District officials for 2011. Clergy not attending will need to contact our office by email or phone and let us know.  We will let you know when you can come by and get your Charge Conference materials and have a visit with me so you will know what to expect at your Charge Conference.
Your ministries are amazing. Thank you for doing the things of God in Christ Jesus!
(Who needs to attend?   – All Clergy, and Lay Leaders Church Conference Delegates)
Grace & Peace,

Roy
